In this blog post, I am going to discuss how to write a quality article for online marketing. First of all, I will list out 10 tips for writing blog post, and then, tell you what you should avoid. I hope I can help you to create an article with more earning power. Before creating blog post, the first step is to decide on which keyword you are going to target within your article. From that keyword, you will be creating a captivating headline. As a Second step, you will want to outline or “spec” out your content. This includes a breakdown of your ideas in point form.
Remember it should be in the following format:
- Introduction
- Idea 1
- Idea 2
- Idea 3
- Idea ….
- Conclusion
If you want to write out a quality content, remember, don’t be over critical of your content as you are writing it. Write it out and then go back and make your edits afterwards. You will be more efficient this way.
10 Tips of writing Quality Blog Posts

1) Use smaller paragraphs
It can be very difficult to read large blocks of content, in particular with the fact that we are living in a 140 character world and socially, we typically use very short paragraphs when we are communicating. White space within your content (smaller paragraphs) will lead to much better readability and more people will read your content as a result.
2) Use appropriate font sizes and colors
You ideally want to keep your normal font sizes on your website that are by default, don’t get into a habit of using random font sizes and colors everywhere. It will take away from your readability and your content will end up looking more like a circus than anything. White background with black text has over and over again proven to convert the best and lead to the highest readership rates. I highly recommend that you consider using a theme with a white background and either a really dark grey text or black. You will notice a difference.
3) Using visuals within your content
We are visual creatures by nature…really, we grew up reading picture books from an early age. That doesn’t leave us as we get older as we find it much easier to relate to content if there is associated imagery. You should have associated images that reflect what you are talking about, or in other words, SHOW don’t just tell. This will lead to more engagement, a higher reader rate, and as a result, more conversions.
4) Using headlines to prelude content
It is important that you break up your content and foreshadow what is coming up through the use of headlines. You can do this by using H3 (Heading 3) tags within your content. It will make your content much more readable.
5) Writing in an easy to understand way
One of the biggest mistakes people make when building out their content is trying to make it sound like an English essay. As a result (and very appropriately), it will lead to your audiences eyes glossing over and a very lower readership rate.
6) The Headline – Captivating an Interesting
Something you need to consider is that your headline is your initial “make or break” of your content. It is your first impression with the outside world and it is the first thing people are going to see when your content gets indexed. What we need to remember is that our audience are the ones in control of what they do, but we are control of the content we create. Headlines (which are your page/post titles) are the first impression and can make all the difference in the world. The more click-throughs you get, the more traffic you get so invest some energy into writing some captivating headlines.
7) The Opening Paragraph – Tell People What You Are Going to Talk About
The first paragraph of content is where you should be showcasing relevant and preluding what your content is going to accomplish. Speak to them, speak to your keyword theme, and tell them what you are going to be walking you through in the upcoming content. If you can forecast what you are going to talk about while leaving a little bit of mystery (leaving a feeling of “I need to read this”), your readership levels are going to go up.
More readers = More Opportunity!
8) The Meat of the Ideas (Sub Headlines)
This is the main course of your content. People are coming to your page for a reason and this is where you need to fulfil the promises from your headline as well as your opening paragraph. If people came looking for a product review, you need to deliver it to them within the “meat” but do so in a way that is informative, helpful and leaves no questions unanswered. In other words, be “thorough” with your content. This is where your research and your communication skills are going to show. Ideally you want to your page/post theme into much smaller ideas.
9) The Conclusion – Tell Them What You Just Talked About
And let them know what you want to happen. This is where the intent could come in through a call to action, getting them over to read a product review or visit a merchant page and of course, you can encourage engagement within your content as well. This is the perfect opportunity to recommend a product/ service to them, get them to sign-up to something, leave a comment…basically any action that you need them to take.
10) Keyword Usage in Blog Post
Here is how a “hyper targeted Keyword” helping for online marketing:
Relevant keyword => Relevant Description => Relevant landing page => Relevant offer
It is not any more complex than this. As you can see, there is a common term shared between all of these items within the buying process. RELEVANT. Relevance converts and relevant intent is going to lead you to a good deal of success, irrespective of the niche you are involved in. These are called “call to action” links. If this were a movie, you would be the director. You will want to direct people in the direction that you need them to go, and not to de-humanize the process, to do so in a very helpful way.

Tips of Bad Writing which you should AVOID
1) Duplicate Content
Your content needs to be 100% unique. Plagiarizing content is really bad for business, in particular when it comes to SEO. Spun content is bad. Curated content is bad. Taking content and trying to rewrite it is bad. All content on your website should be unique and should be yours. That is how you get rewarded with rankings.
2) Keyword Stuffing
Exactly how it sounds, stuffing keywords throughout your content. A few years back this would have worked, but search engines started to gain a much better understanding of human language and realized that people that were putting the target keyword everywhere within their content were actually trying to game the rankings system.
3) Link Schemes
Also known as “backlinking”, this is not good for business and this is not only going to be re-iterated here at WA, it is clearly defined within the Bing guidelines. If you are manufacturing links (spending time getting backlinks), you are going to eventually be punished for these or they will end up having null value.
4) Meta Refresh Redirects
This is a bait and switch technique that black-hat (sneaky) marketers use. They create content for the intent of ranking and then after a set period of time, they redirect people to an offer. These are very easy to capture and won’t work within any search engines.
5) Social Media Schemes
Unnatural follower totals and sharing is obvious within social networks to search engines. Social can absolutely help improve rankings, reach, engagement and index times but if you are paying for followers and activity or are building out your social profiles in an obvious “schemey” way, you are going to deprecate your ranking value in Bing/Yahoo/Google.
6) Cloaking
Most of you probably are not doing this or even are aware of this, but basically cloaking is showing two different versions of your website. One to the search bots (like Bingbot, Googlebot) and another one to your actual visitors. Sneaky, but Bing will punish by delisting you for this if they find you doing this.
How to Maximum Success Through Blog Post Content
One that most people normally forget about within their actual comments is to add LINK within comment. When people offer comments and questions within your pages/posts on your website, they are offering new opportunities for you to respond with intent but also opportunity for you to generate revenue and “action” right within the comment itself.
This could be in the form of:
(1) Adding links to your comments (affiliate/review pages)
(2) Explicitly keep the conversation going
(3) Send people to a page that helps them out
(4) Promote a product/service that will solve their problem
Be careful about spamming your comments with links and unnatural answers (that feel as though they are motive driven). Always remember your goal is to help people first, sell second. Be subtle with your links and be helpful with all of your responses and you will maximize conversions. Remember, people are not going to click any link or trust you if you haven’t built up this trust in the content leading up to your call to action link, so that building social networking with trust is important. I have built trust, and ultimately I have converted folks into buyer as a result.
